Crocheting is my favorite craft.
I learned how to crochet from my grandmother when I was a little girl and I love it. Grandma crocheted edgings on hankies, so she taught me how to crochet with thread first! I made Barbie clothes. No patterns, grandma never had patterns, so I made my own designs. Then it was on to yarn and my first ripple afghan. I taught myself how to read patterns, and when I lived in Japan I taught myself how to read symbols.
Here is a blanket I made for a local charity blanket drive. It's a 36" square granny with cable rounds. I made up this pattern. I knew I wanted to make a granny square, but I didn't want it be just plain, so I added the cable rounds.

So original! Beautifully done... I get bored with the granny too, so I've incorporated front post stitches (doubles or trebles)in various places on the squares. You must have used a lot of yarn.
